The Global Anglican Future Conference’s (Gafcon) inception was a 2008 Jerusalem conference of orthodox, Biblical, Gospel-believing and practicing clergy and lay persons. Gafcon has evolved; and, today, Gafcon is now a movement of orthodox Christianity proclaiming Christ to the Nations (Isaiah 42:1). Gafcon is not an alternative to the global Anglican Communion. Gafcon, as the majority of Anglicans in the Anglican Communion, does not seek a split in the Anglican Communion. Rather, Gafcon, as a renewal movement for the Anglican Communion, is striving to move all the Anglican Communion back to its Biblical and orthodox-Christian roots of the 1500s.
We are living in the midst of a new global Christian reformation for redefining the faithful followers of Jesus Christ – not just in the Anglican world, but the whole of Christianity. In this past year 2000 leaders of the Anglican Communion met in Jerusalem under the banner of “Proclaiming Christ Faithfully to the Nations.” These leaders represented more than 60 million of the 80 million total Anglicans domiciled around the world. Also, these Gafcon 2018 attendees represented countries with a population totaling 3.8 Billion people. Geographically and demographically, Gafcon presents quite an opportunity for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ faithfully to the nations!
